Hall of Fame inductees announced

The Hall of Fame committee is proud to announce the class of 2014 for induction into the Plainville Sports Hall of Fame.

This year’s inductees include Michael Verrastro (class of 1990), Ericka Boiczyk Fangiullo (‘93), Niko Koutouvides (‘99), Joseph “Buddy” Silva (‘73), Robert Morgan (‘62), and coach Joseph Dehm. The 1971 Blue Devil football team also will be recognized.

This year’s Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Michael Bakaysa for his contributions to athletics and activities in Plainville.

During the annual banquet, the organization will also recognize the 2014 recipient of the Byron Treado Founders Award. This year’s selection is Sarah Ercoli, a recent Plainville High School graduate, who exemplified a team commitment while balancing the rigors of academics and athletics.

The Hall of Fame Banquet will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Nuchies Restaurant in Forestville. Tickets are available at the Dental Offices of Dr. Rusty Camp and Dr. Michael Lantiere.
