Aleksandra Malz of Plainville, earned first honors for the third marking period at Mercy High School.Scholarship

The annual Helen Kilduff-Elizabeth Elia music scholarship competition is scheduled for May 27 at South Congregational/First Baptist Church, according to the New Britain Symphony Board of Directors. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior in New Britain, Berlin or Plainville who displays outstanding proficiency in voice, keyboard or an orchestral instrument and who has been accepted by an institution of higher learning to further the study of music.

Applications may be obtained from high school music directors and guidance departments. Deadline is May 20.
